This collection of true stories tell how one Marine found humor, learning and even some ignorance along the way.

A Nebraska cowboy who survived the Depression, dust storms and droughts of the 1930s, John Farritor joined the Marine Corps in July 1941 at the age of 21. In WWII, he hit the beaches of Bougainville, Guam, and Iwo Jima. In Korea, he fought in the Pusan Perimeter, Inchon Landing and the Frozen Chosen Epic. With humor and detail, Farritor tells his stories of personalities, life, perseverance, and war - all in an unpretentious style. 1st Sgt. (Ret.) Farritor is a writer and speaker. On special occasions he wears his uniform -- the size he wore 40 years ago when he retired. He is a member of the 1st Marine Division Association, Third Marine Division Association, The Chosen Few, The Marine Corps Association, and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Command Museum.
