PUBLISHER'S STATEMENT

The Publisher reserves the right to reject any book or manuscript,
that in its opinion, will not provide a reasonable “return on investment”.
Note: All submitted material is non-returnable.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

1. Work to meet our publication criteria for literary standards of excellence.
    
2. The author shows reasonable talent for telling a story that people would like to read.
    
3. The author demonstrates a proficient level of writing skills. Grammar, punctuation, and points-of-view.
    
4. The book has good sales potential.
    
5. The author understands we will create a marketing plan and author will cooperate in accordance to the promotion of his/her book
    

PUBLISHING RIGHTS:

You must own all rights, title and interest in your work without compromise. The English Language rights to the work may not currently be licensed to any other publisher or entity. The submission must have both electronic (e-Book) and print (paperback) rights immediately available. If either of these two rights are not available, then the submission will not be accepted.

REPRINTS:

We will consider previously published works as long as all electronic (e-Book) and all print rights (paperback and hardcover) have reverted back to the author (no contract exists). Your work must be currently out-of-print and unavailable for sale from any other publisher. (Final remainders and used books available from retailers directly are acceptable and do not disqualify potential acceptance of work).

FORMATTING THE MANUSCRIPT:

Please read the following formatting rules. Submissions received that do not follow this format will be subject to delay and possibly rejected without review.

Note: These are minimum submission format requirements.

1. Your manuscript must be in Microsoft Word (has a .DOC file extension) NO other file formats are acceptable.
    
2. Type Font should be New Times Roman or Verdana.
    
3. Double Line spacing is preferred.
    
4. Margins should be no less than one inch.
    
5. Allow word-wrapping of text; please do not use a hard return at the end of each line.
    
6. No italics.
    
7. Indent the first line of each paragraph.
    
8. Use three asterisks [* * *] on a blank line for scene breaks.

SUBMITTING YOUR MANUSCRIPT:

We require submissions to follow these simple guidelines which permit us to process and review your manuscript in a timely fashion. Not following these guidelines will cause your submission to be significantly delayed or rejected.

Leatherneck Publishing specializes in military genre subject matter from all active, former and retired military personnel regardless of service branch, Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard.

Make sure that you include a cover letter with the requested information format as listed below:

   Summary: Give a 500-word single-spaced synopsis of your book. The purpose of a plot summary is to create interest. Make it as easy and enticing to read as possible. Make sure that it tells the entire story—don't, for example, leave out the story's ending as a gimmick. Imagine you have 5 minutes to tell us what your book is about. Convey the essential storyline complete with tension, pacing and character emotion.

To facilitate a  rapid response, we encourage you to electronically submit your manuscript with an email cover letter and your manuscript as a file attachment through your e-mail. You must send the following to be considered for publication. Not following these instructions may delay your submission.

1.     The Subject Line must read: Submission—“title” [insert title of your Book]

2.     Place this information at the top of your email:

3.     The exact title of your book

4.     Your full (legal) name

5.     The name you want on the book as author (could be your name or a pen name).

6.     Your email address (especially, if you want to hear from us rapidly).

7.     Your traditional mail address (street, city, state, zip).

8.     Summary and Back Page Text as outlined above. 

9.     Approximate number of words (not number of pages). 

10.    Be sure to attach your COMPLETE MANUSCRIPT in one file (DOC format). 

11.    No partial manuscripts are accepted.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF MANUSCRIPT:

You will be sent an immediate acknowledgement when your submission is received. The estimated time when you can expect an answer from us as to whether your work has been accepted is usually within 14 - 21 days, however due to fluctuations in submissions, the time could be shorter or longer. If you have not heard from us after 30 days, please feel free to send an inquiry. Make sure to include your book title so we can readily identify you.
